Soon after being sworn in to office, I began to realize that one of the most crucial elements to a well-functioning tax office is their computer software. Equally important and crucial, is having access to helpful and timely support from the software provider, in order to maintain a property tax collector’s sanity!
The outdated software that I had inherited upon entering office did not fully meet my operational needs, and it was a struggle. I managed to convince my municipality and school district to assist me with purchasing new software. Since Allegheny County has a unique way of doing things, the new software that I purchased provided the ability to handle some of these unique situations. However, within a short period of time, issues started to come up with the new software I had purchased, and I quickly found out that the support I needed was simply not there. I was stuck. I couldn’t afford new software again. So, over the next several years the stress caused by the whole situation had reached an unhealthy limit. Finally one day I decided to terminate the company and take my chances so I began exploring the internet and came across the website for M.T.S. It was like hitting the lottery!
From the moment I spoke to Rudy Muhr, and he patiently explained to me all the abilities of the municipal tax system, I could feel the stress slowly melt away. He expressed his willingness and ability to adapt the software functions to perform our needs (remember, we have a unique county!) Not only had I finally had found a great software that could handle the needs and unique situations for collecting property taxes, but I also found a terrific IT support person who is always just a phone call away. Most of the time it’s a simple correction or an operator error, but on those rare occasions when I need his help, Rudy never lets me down. He comes up with some solution and everything is good again. The M.T.S. software has reduced my stress significantly, it is a pleasure working with Rudy and the software system is very reasonably priced and affordable and most importantly, user friendly and adaptable.
